We’re a small, independent, company based in Bristol, UK. And when we say ‘we’, we actually mean me, Lizzie. I handle almost all aspects of the business – from creating fragrances to packing them – with some help from my friends and partner.
What are we all about?
Fragrance can’t change the world, but it can change the way you feel about the world. Scent has the power to alter your mood or bring back a memory in an instant. It’s that amazing ability that led me to call one of our fragrances Magic + Science – it truly feels like magic to me. I like to think we’re in the business of bottling joy.
Our ethics
Being an ethical business is a journey, not a destination. So we’ll be learning and improving as we grow. But for now, this is us. It’s the very least you can expect from a brand launched in 2023:
Our products – and the materials we use in them – are vegan, cruelty free and sustainably sourced.
Our packaging is recyclable. Though you’ll need a little elbow grease to recycle the bottle – you can find out how to do that here.
Small batch fragrances
Small company, small batches. To avoid waste – and save space – we only produce a small number of bottles at a time. Since we use lots of natural materials, no two batches will be exactly the same as harvests can vary.
Perfume matures over time. The materials need to get to know each other, with the help of alcohol. It’s a lot like a party. As time goes on, the scent and colour may change slightly. So if you buy from an independent perfumer who makes small batches – like us – you might find your fragrance changes slightly.
Don’t worry, though – we’ve tested our fragrances and they won’t change dramatically. We find that as time goes on the scent starts to smell rounder and fuller.
Natural perfumes
There’s growing interest all-natural fragrances. Find out what that really means here. At Thursday Fragrance, we use a blend of natural and synthetic materials because we believe that’s best for the environment, for safety and, of course, the scent.
Gender neutral
Anyone can wear anything. We feel so strongly about this we’ve written about it here. Nice smells smell nice – that’s all there is to it.
Our name
It’s a question we get asked a lot – ‘Why are you called Thursday Fragrance?’ You can find out here. It absolutely does not have anything to do with the owner thinking she was born on a Thursday.
